Accentia uses double-blind review policy, in which the identities of both author(s)' and the reviewer(s)' remain anonymous until the submitted article is published.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Code of Conduct, Publication Ethics and Roles Responsibilities

Accentia: Journal of English Language and Education aims to maintain the highest levels of ethics for publication in order to accept quality scientific papers and inspire public trust in scientific findings. It also encourages article writers to be recognized for their contributions. The entire procedure is subject to the Publication Ethics (COPE) and its Best Practice Guidelines in every possible way.

Plagiarism

Any manuscript that contains evidence of being copied with no citations from another author's work will be marked as plagiarism. Plagiarism screening process starts from the initial step of the review process, before the submission is sent to the reviewers, and the editing phase. If plagiarism is discovered after the manuscript has been published, the editor will promptly withdraw the piece from the issue list and notify any publication ethics infringement.

Duplicate Submission

If it is discovered that a manuscript has been published or is being review elsewhere, it will be deemed a duplicate submission. In order to prevent self-plagiarism (also known as auto-plagiarism), authors must correctly cite any prior work that they utilized as the basis for a submitted manuscript, even if it was already published or is presently undergoing review. This requirement applies once both manuscripts are published.

Citation Manipulation

Citation manipulation is referred to any submitted manuscripts that contain fabricated citations with the main intent of increasing the number of citations to a specific author's work or articles published in a given journal.

Data Falsification

Manipulation of graphs, photos, or charts in submitted articles that contain study results and findings that have been determined to be false may be deemed a breach of data falsification.

Improper Author Attribution

All sources that are cited again in the submitted manuscripts must be properly attributed according to the terms of the license obtained from the original source.

Conflicts of Interest

Accentia: Journal of English Language and Education encourages authors to avoid any Conflicts of interests (COIs, also known as ‘competing interests’) that occur when issues outside research could be reasonably perceived to affect the neutrality or objectivity of the work or its assessment. All potential conflicts of interest that may arise must be disclosed to enable informed decision-making, regardless of whether they truly had an impact. However, this declaration will not necessarily prevent someone from participating in a review process or work from being published, in most situations.

In situations when there is doubt, expressing a possible interest or consulting with the editors is strongly advised. Unreported interests could result in rejection or reevaluation, which could lead to the publication being withdrawn.

Conflicts of interest include:

  1. Financial – funding and other payments, goods and services received or expected by the authors relating to the subject of the work or from an organization with an interest in the outcome of the work.
  2. Affiliations – being employed by, on the advisory board for, or a member of an organization with an interest in the outcome of the work.
  3. Intellectual property – patents or trademarks owned by someone or their organization.
  4. Personal – friends, family, relationships, and other close personal connections.
  5. Ideology – beliefs or activism, e.g. political or religious, relevant to the work.
  6. Academic – competitors or someone whose work is critiqued.

Authors must declare current or recent funding and other payments, goods or services that might affect the work. All funding, whether a conflict or not, must be declared in the ‘Acknowledgments’. Declared conflicts of interest (if any) will be considered by the editor and reviewers and included in the published article.

Editors and reviewers should not be involved with a submission when they:

1. Currently have a submission or recent publication with any author.

2. Work with any author, or have recently worked with any author.

3. Have a financial involvement in regards to the subject of the work.

4. Experience inability to maintain objectivity.

In any way possible, Accentia: Journal of English Language and Education seeks to prevent editors from assigning submissions to reviewers if there is a conflict of interest; in such cases, reviewers should decline and disclose any conflicts to the journal. Reviewers must declare their interests in the ‘Confidential’ section of the review form, which will be considered by the editor. Close competitors should consider declining. Editors and reviewers must declare if they have previously communicated with the authors about the manuscript at the initial editorial meeting.

Sanctions of mentioned violations

In the event that there are evidence of violations of any of the above mentioned policies in any journal, regardless of whether or not the violations occurred in Accentia: Journal of English Language and Education, the following sanctions will be considered:

  1. Immediate rejection of the infringing manuscript
  2. Immediate rejection of every other manuscript submitted to Accentia: Journal of English Language and Education by the author(s) of the infringing manuscript for 2 subsequent issues (12 months)
  3. Blacklisted as author or demoted user access from author to reader
  4. Prohibition against all of the authors from serving on the Editorial Board of Accentia: Journal of English Language and Education

The publisher has the right to apply further consequences in addition to those listed above in situations when the aforementioned policy infractions are deemed to be particularly severe.
